Psychological Specialties
The intent of cognitive evaluations is to provide an overall description of the patient’s current level of cognitive and emotional functioning. Among cognitive areas that will be assessed are intelligence and executive functions, language skills (receptive and expressive), visuo-constructive skills, attention, and memory performance (verbal and visual). Its purpose is to provide differential diagnostic information, to address the pattern of cognitive strengths and weaknesses, to enhance diagnostic accuracy, to determine the severity of deficits and to determine overall cognitive function. The patient will be provided with a description of their assessment results (feedback). Relevant caregivers (e.g. family members or friends) are encouraged to be present to assist in development of a rational and personalized treatment plan
